Edvantage Solution Brings you list of Fake University in India recognized by University Grants Commission(UGC) Because of its rigorous approach and work in this regard, UGC has been able to list fake universities in India that had been functioning without approval. These universities neither have the required recognition nor the degrees awarded by them are considered valid. Recently, UGC has released a list of 24 fake universities Eight of these fake universities are from Uttar Pradesh and seven from Delhi.UGC has time and again cautioned students to keep a tab on the list of fake universities in India which is updated periodically on its official website. It is the sole responsibility of the students to check the UGC recognition of the varsity before seeking admission or investing any money for higher education. UGC maintains that it shall not be held responsible in case students are cheated by the bogus institutes that have been functioning in the country. According to the UGC Act 1956, universities can award degrees only if they are established under the central, provincial or state Act. Deemed institutes established under Section 3 of the UGC Act are only eligible to award degrees. On the other hand, institutions that are specifically empowered by an Act of Parliament are eligible to confer degrees to students.As per Section 23 of the UGC Act, no institute must include the name ‘University’ unless they are established under central/ state/ provincial act (or) as per the process mentioned above.
